It has been a long time since I wrote here.
Mainly I was not in the mood or feel like doing it.
The events of 11.03.11 at Japan made me so sad and so worried about my loving "Island of the Rising Sun".
I could not concentrate on anything.
After a long time and when I finally got along with the bad also some good news I am ready to try focus on this.
At first I thought to interrupt the Myanamar journey and start posting my journey to Japan.
But then I thought it will make me even worst and I would never finish even one blog. Then shortly after Japans big quake on March 24th of 2011 earthquake of 6.8 also strikes Myanamar.
News ..73 people had been killed and 111 injured. It was said 390 houses, 14
Buddhist monasteries and nine government buildings were damaged.
Sadly this is not known to the world because the disaster at Japan sort of put a "shadow" over other news around the globe at that time.
After that I gave up that idea of writing about other places here until I finish my Myanmar journey.
So I write here again continuing my Myanamar trip with my visit to:
Chauk Htat Kyi Pagoda and the Reclining Buddha.
That Pagoda is also located in the town of Yangon. It was in my book as a "should see" because there is located the Worlds Largest Reclining Buddha Statue.
Kyaukhtatgyi Buddha is also
written as Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda,Chaukhtatgyi Paya and Chauk Htat Kyi
Pagoda.
The colossal Kyaukhtatgyi measures 70
m (230 ft) long.
The history of that contraction is interesting also.
Work on this image of Buddha started in 1899, the donor named U Hpo Thar being
fired by his ambition to make it a model edifice not only in this country
but in the whole world as well.
By 1907, the image of the Buddha half
reclining on a royal couch on his flank, one hand propping up his upper
torso was completed. From afar one might have mistaken it for an image in
the seated posture.
The image then had a length of 195 feet (59.28m) and a height of 100 feet
(30.4m) from the surface of the couch to the halo round the head with the
height of the couch itself 5 feet 6 inches above the platform.
Extensive
reconstruction completed in 1973 extended the length of the image to 216
feet (65.85m) with the height of the couch however, reduced to 4 feet
(1.22m).
Originally the axis of the head turned towards the west and the
visage faced the south, but the reconstructed image has the head aligned
towards the east and the visage facing north.

Believe me it was not easy to photograph this.
The size of this statue is so colossal that you can not make it fit in one shot.
I did try my best tho.

I found most interesting the details on the statue it self.

For example The Buddha's foot
print with the description of the lives of Buddha..a hundred and eight sole
marks (108) clearly depicted in detail and inscribed in a sort of checkerboard pattern .

All the image is made according to Buddhas 80 secondary characteristics .
Some of the eighty minor characteristics are:
He has beautiful fingers and toes.
He has well-proportioned fingers and toes.
He has tube-shaped fingers and toes.
His fingernails and toenails have a rosy tint.
His feet are of equal length.
He has a beautiful gait, like that of a king-elephant.
He has a stately gait, like that of a king-lion.
His right foot leads when walking.
He has a protruding nose.
His nose is well proportioned.
His upper and lower lips are equal in size and have a rosy tint.
His five sense-organs are unblemished.
His four canine teeth are crystal and rounded.
His face is long and beautiful.
The lines on his palms are straight.
The lines on his palms have a rosy tint.
His body emanates a halo of light extending around him for two meters.
His cheek cavities are fully rounded and smooth.
His eyelids are well proportioned.
The five nerves of his eyes are unblemished.
His ears are long like lotus petals.
His ear holes are beautifully rounded.
His topknot is like a crown.
His forehead is rounded and beautiful.
His brows reach the outward corner of his eyes.
His whole body has abundant signs of good fortune.
His body is exquisitely sensitive to touch.
His body has the scent of sandalwood.
His mouth always has a beautiful smile.
His hair has the scent of a white lotus.
I manage to spend there half day watching the magnificent structure of this image. Then walked around Yangon for a while.
Next day I would leave for a visit to other parts of Myanmar.
More amazing sites to come surprises for me to see.
Have a great week everyone my love to all my friends at Japan and Myanmar.Hope you are all safe and taking care of yourselves.
